Chelsea G. Swanson

Associate

Chelsea G. Swanson is an associate in Davis, Pickren, Seydel & Sneed’s corporate practice group. She has a broad corporate practice, with a focus on nonprofit operations, business formations, corporate governance, intellectual property, and other commercial transactions and business matters.

Chelsea graduated from the University of Georgia with Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics, a minor in History, and a certificate in Personal Organization and Leadership. While at the University of Georgia, Chelsea served as the judicial chair on the executive board of her sorority and interned with a local nonprofit. A Double Dawg, she returned to the University of Georgia School of Law where she acted as a Notes Editor for the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law and was selected as one of eight students to compete with the Business Negotiations Team. She was awarded “Best Draft” at the Transactional Law Meet for the Southwest Region. During her time at UGA Law, Chelsea also worked as an extern with St. Mary’s Health Care System’s in-house counsel and trained to serve as a neutral in Georgia.

Prior to enrolling in law school, Chelsea volunteered in Rome, Italy as an English teacher for university students. In conjunction with this role, she assisted in coordinating a student exchange program between Roma Tre University and the University of Georgia for two years.  While in Italy, Chelsea co-founded an outreach and sex trafficking awareness group that later partnered with the Salvation Army.

Chelsea lives in Atlanta with her husband, Jonathan. She also serves on the board of the Atlanta Dream Center and volunteers with the Junior League of Atlanta and Community Bucket.

Representative Experience

  • Protect intellectual property rights through trademark registrations (including clearance work, analysis, and counsel based on risk assessments), advocating for clients to USPTO Examining Attorneys, maintenance filings, and enforcement.
  • Negotiate, structure, and draft license agreements, physician employment contracts, non-disclosure agreements, letters of intent, commercial leases, consulting agreements, and other general business contracts.
  • Counsel tax-exempt organizations in matters of corporate governance, fundraising, partnerships, and other business initiatives.
  • Advise and assist entrepreneurs with business formation, drafting corporate governance documents, and implementing company policies.
  • Negotiate contract language with numerous NCAA schools for an annual tournament.
  • Comprehensive closing documents examination for numerous properties owned by the largest individual landowner in the U.S.
